Financial Center’s Chief Executive Officer, J. Kevin Ryan, retires after a successful career tenure of 40 years in financial services and the credit union industry.
Since joining Financial Center in 2009 as President and Chief Executive Officer, Ryan has led the Credit Union through major milestones including growing 42,000 members and $390 million in assets to over 80,000 members and $810 million in assets. Ryan’s leadership also contributed to the Credit Union receiving numerous state and national awards for Adult and Youth Financial Literacy, Social Responsibility, and Philosophy in Action.
Ryan was recently honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash award, the highest honor which a Governor of Indiana bestows, for his distinguished service to the state during this retirement party on January 13, 2022. Additionally, Ryan was recognized in the Congressional Record for his contributions. Ryan was also inducted into Financial Center Board of Directors’ Hall of Fame for his significant career trajectory and excellence in service.
While at Financial Center, other notable recognitions and awards presented to Ryan for his commitment to the credit union movement, helping build better communities, demonstrating high standards of integrity and moral character, contributing to poverty reduction, and overall community leadership include: Indiana Credit Union League Professional Achievement Award, Indiana Credit Union League Hall of Fame, Jefferson Award, Order of Saint Maurice, Dr. Martin Luther King Chairman’s Award, and the City of Lawrence first recipient of the Good Scout Award.
Ryan serves as Chairman of the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame, as well as President of the Lawrence Police Foundation Board of Directors. He is a member of the Indiana Credit Union League Governmental Affairs Committee and of the Indiana Council on World Affairs. Ryan previously held the position of Chairman of the Indiana Credit Union League Board of Directors and was a past member of the Credit Union National Association Advocacy Committee.

His legacy will be honored as we continue to help our members and communities improve their financial lives.”
Ryan holds a Master of Arts in Executive Development and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Ball State University. He also holds certifications as a Chief Executive (CCE), Financial Services Professional (CFSP), Credit Union Executive (CCUE), and a League Executive (CLE).
