Financial Center helped raise $66,025 for Pack the Pantries, a hunger awareness campaign in central Indiana hosted by FOX59, Gleaners and Midwest Food Banks.
Typically, Pack the Pantries is a 24-hour telethon held in April and December where FOX59 and CBS4 viewers call in to donate funds to food pantries or donate online. Although the ongoing pandemic has halted the telethon portion of the fundraising efforts, COVID-19 has not stopped the community from banding together to donate over $66,025 this winter.
The funds raised equates to over 264,000 meals, all going to local Hoosiers in need. Financial Center has supported hunger awareness initiatives for years, with Pack the Pantries being the cornerstone of the credit union’s community service efforts for the past 5 years.
“COVID-19 has pressed on into 2021 devastating many families along the way. Our opportunity continues to be to provide assistance to the many Hoosiers who need it most,” stated J. Kevin Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of Financial Center First Credit Union. “We want everyone to know that credit unions are all about people helping people, and Financial Center will make every effort to improve your financial life whether you are a member or not.”
